The Feedback Paradox: Why Your Leadership Assessment Isn't Working

Millions are spent annually on leadership assessments. Reams of accurate and well intentioned feedback are delivered to executives globally. Yet three years later the same patterns are still running in the same people.

This is not a data problem. It is a methodology problem.

If you are ready to bridge the gap between insight and action, our Advanced Leadership Programme provides the methodology to reach the level where real change lives.

The Missing Link in Assessment Data

Here is what assessments rarely surface. The pattern was never really about personality or preference. It was formed as a response to something earlier. It was a way of protecting, adapting, or surviving a situation that required exactly that response.

At the time it made complete sense. The problem is that it still runs as if that situation is happening now.

Not all patterns need disrupting. Many of them are precisely why you have achieved your current success. But some have a different quality. They have a stickiness and a resistance. They carry a sense that no amount of awareness or effort has moved them.

Those are almost always the ones formed not through preference but through protection.

The Root of the "Stuck" Leader

This is why feedback can be entirely correct and yet entirely useless as a route to change. You are being asked to modify the output of something that has never been examined at its source.

When leaders reach this point two things tend to happen:

1. The Identity Trap A leader concludes that this is just who they are. The pattern has been carried long enough that it has become identity. There is no distance between the person and the behaviour. There is only a quiet resignation that this is simply how they are wired.

2. The Insight Gap A leader says they know they have the pattern but they do not know how to stop. Their awareness is completely intact. Something else is missing.

Moving Beyond Awareness

That something else is not another assessment. It is not more feedback. It is a methodology that reaches the level where the pattern actually lives.

To lead effectively in an era of constant disruption we must move past simply measuring the pattern. We must start shifting the source.

Break the Cycle of Static Feedback

EdgeEQ is the methodology for the how of change. If you are a leader or an organisation tired of accurate data that leads to zero movement, it is time for a different approach.
